Forgiveness Leads to Healing Relationships

Tozer, the author of the classic devotional, the Knowledge of the Holy, is quoted as saying, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” I believe that ‘how we see God is the foundation of how we see ourselves.’ (The lens of love).

Sometimes, we experience and believe that it is challenging to make our earthly parental authority happy in our growing up. Then, we are likely to develop the mindset of earning God’s love, approval, and favor through works. The Bible tells us that God is pleased with us. Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness.”

What do we do when the reality of earthly relationships does not match our understanding of the relationship with Heavenly Father?

Forgive those who do not know the Heavenly Father’s love themselves. We love because He first loved (1 John 4:19). People can’t give what they don’t have. Pray for the revelation of God’s love for others as well as for ourselves.
